How to make a pull up bar in your garage.
Instead of buying a cheap unstable door frame mounted pull up bar i decided that i would manufacture my own bar to mount to the ceiling in my garage.
The pull up is a great exercise to improve your fitness for tennis.
Cut boards cut two identical pieces of the 2 4 to the height at which you d like the bar to hang.
Measure 3 inches from the bottom of the boards and use the 1 1 2 inch spade bit to make a hole in both boards.
Be safe getting the bar in the attic.
Insert shorter pipes into elbows so that they form a right angle to the longer bar.

Depending on your set up the attachment to the ceiling may be different.
I learned a lot on the first anchor so the second one went up very easily.
I got it up there by myself no problem.
Get a friend to help you if you can.
At a high level you need to secure the pull up bar to a 2 x4 or 2 x6 that is itself secured to your ceiling rafters joists using lag screws or carriage bolts.
Or you can do pull ups to where your head is going.
This example is cut to 18 inches but it will vary depending on ceiling height and personal preference.
Note in order to get the bar to come together the second anchor has to be install after you attach the pull up bar to the vertical 3 4 bar not before.
Measure out the length you will need to be able to do pull ups without smacking your face into the ceiling.

If not just make sure you are stable.
Construct the pull up bar as detailed in the photo above square and tighten all connections.
